It seems that my "Raspberry jellies" piece wasa hit. Record number of faves and an invitation from #digital-artists to post in their 3d-folder too. Very encouraging indeed. Zero faves for my Lab gear work, loads for the candies. I wonder why?

I have a commision and a company may make either Maya or 3DsMax available to me. It seems that both are very capable programs but which also require a LOT of effort to appreciate. If anybody could help with some thoughts on what I should choose I'd be very grateful indeed.

I have started a project which involves a great deal of UV-mapping. I am working with Cararra 8.5 and it has some UV-mapping tools but it seems that a number of other tools would be of great help. A lot of it has to be adjusted manually, point by point and it is taxing my patience. If anybody reads this and knows about a good, free or cheap program for UV mapping I'd love to hear about it. Just don't say Blender!

Finally, it seems that my fish (Catfish) made a splash. A small one but still, quite a lot of comments and faves. I am happy. I try to figure out what makes it different from other things I have made that I actually think are better. One thing is ligthing. I am gradually starting to understand some things about that and the misty underwater light play is quite striking. The other is motive. A fish is something people can relate to, My other pieces are more esoteric like molecules, physics and chemistry experiments or weird organisms. Perhaps a bit off the beaten track of elves, orcs and supeheroes.  I'd love to get some comments on this.
