Swampland Retreat by Oskar-A
Swampland Retreat
Critique is welcome.
I have now built a big house with a magnificient greenhouse on two small islands of solid ground I found in the swamp I posted some time ago. This is my retreat and I'll go here to play with all my cool and interesting stuff and explore this world. It is very likely that I'll post some of it here ;-)
The house, bridge and greenhouse were modeled in Cararra 8.5 and textured in Gimp. Landscape and render in Vue.
Carnivorous plantation by Oskar-A
Carnivorous plantation
Schmeigel ( made a really cool render Carnivorous plant in Blender Swampof my free carnivorous plant model Carnivorous plant in a swamp so I thought I had to make something similar. Here it is, rendered in Vue2014. Comments and suggestions are welcome.
Greenhouse by Oskar-A
A model of a very large greenhouse, about 25 m across, on a very small island. Attached as a .obj file to use as you please. If you do something nice with it I'd love to see it. It seems that the glass material doesn't come through well in the .obj format but that should be easily fixed in your favourite render program. The model is fully modular so you can easily rearrange to any number of alcoves, isles or dual octagonal according to your own tastes.
It seems that my "Raspberry jellies" piece wasa hit. Record number of faves and an invitation from #digital-artists to post in their 3d-folder too. Very encouraging indeed. Zero faves for my Lab gear work, loads for the candies. I wonder why?

Oskar-A's Profile Picture
Working as a scientist with an interest in scientific illustration. Primarily molecules but also more general 3d digital art with a scientific angle.
Currently I am working with Cararra 8.5 which is OK in many ways, very intuitive to work with, but quite buggy and sometimes a but buggy and unstable. It has everything from modelling to rendering but it is definitely the poor cousin of Maya.
I use GIMP for textures and do my best to avoid post work apart from contrast brightness adjustment. I hate everything that smells like photoshop (sorry, 99% of the digital art world) but I confess to a few touches to remove some nasty UV borders. In those cases a freeware program called is excellent.

Many thanks for your comment to my last work. You wrote: "When organic objects are identical it really breaks the illusion for me." These are not organic objects. That's why they do not have originality. They are like balloons over London during the Second World War. Does it explain something? :)

Yes, it does. I thought they were some sort of floating aliens.

Maybe they are some sort of guardians? I'm sure they are not living creatures :)
