JungleCreek by Oskar-A
JungleCreek
Me hiking up a nice little creek in thejungle to take a look at the very rare stinger pistia flowers. They look innocuous but feed on the blood of the unwary. All models by me, except for the figure which is Daz Michael. Modelled and rendered with Carrara 8.5. Textures and compositing in Gimp. If you want a model, just ask. Suggestions and critique appreciated.

Having another beer on teh porch of my swamp shack. Virtual swamps have the considerable advantage of no mosquitoes!

Swamp afternoon by Oskar-A
Swamp afternoon
A detail from my last upload. I thought it got pretty good so here it is in larger format.
All models are available to those who ask.

SwampHQ by Oskar-A
SwampHQ
After my last collection tour in the swamp (check my gallery), it is time for a cold beer in the shade of my swamp head quarters.
All models and render by me in Cararra 8.5  except the DAZ3 Michael figure and one tree by XFrog. Textures in GIMP. If you want any models, just ask and if you have suggestions or critisism, just tell.

It seems that my "Raspberry jellies" piece wasa hit. Record number of faves and an invitation from #digital-artists to post in their 3d-folder too. Very encouraging indeed. Zero faves for my Lab gear work, loads for the candies. I wonder why?

Working as a scientist with an interest in scientific illustration. Primarily molecules but also more general 3d digital art with a scientific angle.
Currently I am working with Cararra 8.5 which is OK in many ways, very intuitive to work with, but quite buggy and sometimes a but buggy and unstable. It has everything from modelling to rendering but it is definitely the poor cousin of Maya.
I use GIMP for textures and do my best to avoid post work apart from contrast brightness adjustment. I hate everything that smells like photoshop (sorry, 99% of the digital art world) but I confess to a few touches to remove some nasty UV borders. In those cases a freeware program called Paint.net is excellent.

Thanks for your advice Oskar....so far the translucency eludes me, but I know I will get it soon enough. Best regards.

Many thanks for your comment to my last work. You wrote: "When organic objects are identical it really breaks the illusion for me." These are not organic objects. That's why they do not have originality. They are like balloons over London during the Second World War. Does it explain something? :)

Yes, it does. I thought they were some sort of floating aliens.

Maybe they are some sort of guardians? I'm sure they are not living creatures :)
